HOLY OMG WHAT

*shut* *the* *fuck* *UP*.
has this quote been confirmed??? cuz i remember in the book it said that mr. snake was bred in captivity. how could voldemort put a peice of his soul in something that was in a zoo without being seen, etc?
boy—if that’s true….*mind blown*

!! does she mean the character Nangina/snake in zoo is the same, or the physical snake pictured here is the same one?
It sounds like she means the character, and it kinda makes sense cos a zoo snake might be the closest snake impressive enough to satisfy Voldie’s Slytherin pride that he could find in the UK.
But why would he leave his soul in a living thing being managed by *zookeepers*? Every other horcrux was hidden, or hard to destroy. A trapped snake though?
It would be so awesome though. Cos picking a zoo snake, it’s possible that child Tom had awful orphan trips to that zoo like Harry, and once actually empathized with the imprisoned creatures. Or that he accepted a prisoner for his soul keeping, because it was the same snake that taught him he was a parseltounge, and he ever genuinely imagined a solidarity type of liberation, or he even chose Slytherin because of the snake…the possibilities!!
ETA: also interesting how Rowling writes a matriarchal POV & is UK Family Values oriented yet chose a  Hindu name/symbolism for the snake linking Harry and Voldie.  If this is true - the same snake linked the beginning and end of their journeys as the ‘most powerful wizards’ in their generations -  it’s clearer why she’d go with the female Nangini name.
ETA 2: Damn, not true. An Anon just wrote: “It’s not true:( They are described differently, one’s a boa, one’s a viper and they are different sexes, etc. Also, Voldemort didn’t make Nagini a horcrux until he killed the old groundskeeper of the Riddle House in the 4th book (or so Dumbledore thought) so even if it were Nagini, it wouldn’t have been a horcrux while in the zoo.” Thanks Anon!
..though dunno that Boa/Python would be much of a distinction to JKR, cos it isn’t to most people. And, you know, non-nocturnal Owls all over Hogwarts etc.
I’m glad I saw this now, at Xmas hols. Means I’ll have time to look for fic on this theme. Even false, it’s a bloody good plot bunny!
